You are not judged by the number of times you fail. There’s a story behind that. This is your daily message from Chad number 660 to upgrade your mental game today by telling yourself a better story, because the most important story you hear is the story you tell yourself. This message is dedicated to the ever-helpful Wade New on his birthday. Happy birthday, Wade!
The Major League Baseball season recently started. I have a trivia question for the MLB fans, but it is an illustrative lesson for all of you. Do you know who in baseball history made the most number of outs? An out is when a player comes up to bat and doesn’t reach a base. That player passed away in 2024 at the age of 83. He had been banned from baseball when he was 48 for accusations of gambling on the sport. He was known as Charlie Hustle. The player with the most number of outs is Pete Rose.
This will surprise some fans of baseball because Pete Rose is known as the hit king. He holds the record for the most hits at 4,256. Before he broke Ty Cobb’s record for most hits, however, he broke the record for racking up the most outs, totalling 10,328. Second place, by the way, was the former home run king Hank Aaron at 9,136. People don’t remember Pete Rose for being the “out” kin,g though. He is the hit king. He also holds the record for the most at-bats (14,053) and played in more games (3,562).
This illustrates the same point we talked about yesterday. You have to put in the reps. It also illustrates the Champion Creed by Tom Hopkins that “I am not judged by the number of times I fail. I am judged by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed is directly related to the number of times I can fail and keep on going.” Whatever you’re trying to accomplish, success will be embedded in how many times you’re willing to try.
