Meaning is more motivating than money. This is your daily message from Chad number 650 and this message is dedicated to the insightful Alex Vesely.
Two garbage men were working their route when the president of the company drove by and stopped to say hello to one of the men. After the president drove off, the other garbage man told his coworker that he was impressed that he knew the president of the company. “We used to work together on this truck about 10 years ago.” His co-worker said. “You must resent that he became president and you’re still picking up trash.” “Not at all,” the president’s friend replied, “I know exactly why he became the president. I came to work for the money, he came to clean up the city.“
You must always ask yourself. “Why do I do what I do?” What are you working for? Brian Cain says, “With a big enough reason why, you will find the motivation to do the dirty work and find the gift in the grind of doing what you do every day.” Motivation is not something you can get. It’s not “out there,” and you find it. You can’t find motivation. You find meaning, and the byproduct is motivation. Motivation is a myth, but meaning isn’t.
