Clues #617

Success leaves clues. This is your daily message from Chad number 617 and this message is dedicated to one of the most successful people I know, Matt Armstrong.

What have we been talking about this week? You need a definition of success (message 615). You need a success plan, as well (message 616).

One of my mantras is that success leaves clues. You have to live by and work your own terms and conditions, however, you don’t have to figure it all out yourself. A few people have tried this thing called “life” before you. You can learn from them.

Charlie Munger said, “I believe in the discipline of mastering the best that other people have ever figured out. I don’t believe in just sitting down and trying to dream it all up yourself. Nobody’s that smart.”

Smart people learn from experience. Really smart people learn from other people’s experience.

I have compiled some of the best definitions of success. Here are four quotes for you to consider:

1. John Wooden’s definition of success: “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.”

2. Earl Nightingale’s definition of success: “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”

3. Jim Rohn’s definition of success: “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day.”

4. John Maxwell said of success: ““Once you’ve tasted significance, success will never satisfy.”
