Motive #607

Motive motivates. This is your daily message from Chad number 607 and this message is dedicated to the motivated Zac Hawkins.

A guy had to ask his neighbor for help getting his new sofa inside the apartment because it got stuck in the door. After about twenty minutes of vigorous pushing and maneuvering, the guy pants, “I think we’ll have to call it a day. There’s no way we’re getting it inside.” The neighbor looks at him slowly, “Wait, inside?”

Whatever you’re doing is tough, probably impossible, if you’re pushing and being pushed. It’s equally frustrating if you’re pulling and being pulled. You may be doing this to yourself. You need something that pushes you. You also need something that pulls you. It may be the same thing. I would submit this is how motivation works. I would also submit motivation works best from the inside out.

What is your motive? Do you have something that is pulling you towards it? Do you have something that is pushing you in the direction you want to go? Dennis Waitley says, “Motivation is motive in action.” You may have outside forces trying to push or pull you one way or another. They may have a modicum of influence. The bottom line though, is motivation is an inside job.

Motivation comes from within, driven by both internal pushes and pulls towards a goal. External forces may influence motivation, but ultimately, it is an internal process.
