Fear

Judges 6:8-10 “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I led you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of bondage. And I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out before you and gave you their land. And I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.’ But you have not obeyed my voice.”

The issue for Israel was fear. They feared another god. God juxtaposed that fear with the fact He was the LORD their God. God often spoke to Israel from the basis of his work of bringing them out of Egypt. He said “I led you…I delivered you…I said to you…But you have not obeyed my voiced.”

I am motivated by multiple influences. God wants to be the only catalyst for what I do. I think He has earned the right of obedience.

You have earned my obedience. You have led me, delivered me, and spoken to me. Help me, empower me, to obey your voice.

I have so many fears. Show me the “gods” behind those fears.
